We provide life jackets, as well as a courtesy bus transfer to and from the launch site. You will need to bring a warm hat and jacket (in winter months), camera/video camera (at your own risk) and sunglasses.

Ngarimu Track
Take a beautiful bush walk up to the historic quartz mine, where quartz was crushed for its gold content.
Meander your way through pristine native bush, to view the abandoned workings.

There are several places around our area to view glow worms. For more information enquire at our office.
Fishing
Fish for whitebait in the Taramakau River or take a relaxing afternoon fishing for trout and salmon on Lakes Poerua or Brunner. We can also arrange pickups and dropoffs with our Explorer Scenic Jet Tours. Please enquire by email or at the office in advance.
Biking
A wonderful area for both experienced and less-experienced riders with great roads and wonderful scenery. We also have bikes for hire - please enquire at the office.
Tramping
From short walks to hikes for experienced trampers, there are a range of trails for different abilities. Delivery and pickup to popular track entrances can be arranged with your booking.
Skiing
Try snow-skiing in the Temple Basin, just 25 minutes (30km) from Jacksons Retreat. If water is your thing, have a go at water-skiing on Lake Brunner, just 15 minutes (17km) from the holiday park.
Boating
Go boating close by on the local Taramakau River or try more peaceful Lake Poerua or Lake Brunner.
